- 2004 PRHS Scholarship
- The first Edward K. Halperin scholarship at Park Ridge High School was awarded to Tyler Rogers of the class of 2004. Tyler is currently attending school in Long Island where he is studying art. The Friends of Eddie will continue to contribute to Eddie's alma mater by awarding a scholarship yearly to a PRHS graduate.
- "Rick" passes away of issues related to his brain cancer.
- Our thoughts and prayers are with Rick and his wife Amanda and their family. Rick passed away the week before Christmas from complications related to his brain cancer. The Edward K. Halperin Fund's donation was greatly appreciated and alleviated the stress on Rick's family during his final days.
- "Lisa" continues rehab and returns to work.
- Lisa is a 30 year-old data technician who experienced a hand tumor when she was younger. All indications were that surgery early in her teens took care of the tumor. Unfortunately, when it returned this year doctors had little option but to remove the hand. If this trama were not enough, Lisa found that the prosthetic hand she needed to buy would cost over $30,000 and needs to be replaced every 4 years. The Edward K. Halperin Fund learned of Lisa's story and sent a donation to help her defray the costs of the device. Her recovery and rehabilitation is going well and she has returned to work.
