The Eddie Halperin Story (continued)

Eddie lived with his mother, grandmother, and brother who could be found day and night in the hospital by his side. In order to help get Eddie the care that Eddie needed, we, his friends, created a benefit fund. Through donations large and small, we were able to amass enough funds to pay all of the Halerpin's medical expenses. Kindness and generousity from friends and strangers touched us deeply.

In the end, no amount of love, determination, or money was able to beat Eddie's disease, and he succumbed to complications on March 6th, 2003 - a mere nine months after the cancer was first discovered. Eight months later, his friends and his brother, Jon, reconveined.

The Edward Halperin Benefit Fund we renamed The Edward K. Halperin Fund. Looking to the future with Eddie's memory, we aim to raise money through local fundraising efforts to provide for annual scholarships and donations made in honor of Eddie. In this way we allow the sun that was Eddie's life to shine on all of us and even on people he never got to meet. Not a day goes by the we don't miss our friend. We hope this effort will help us all remember his life with a smile and nod to all things great that he represented to each of us.
